Inlays, Onlays and Crowns
Inlays and Onlays are some of Dr. Marah Desa’s favorite choices to conservatively replace silver and composite fillings that are no longer functioning as well as they should. These partial crowns are made from porcelain. The teeth-colored partial crowns are virtually undetectable in the mouth, and conserve much of your natural teeth. Crown restorations completely cover a tooth to correct severe decay or misalignment, or protect a tooth that has undergone root canal therapy. Existing crowns showing signs of wear may also require replacing.
These state of the art “internal crowns,” made from empress porcelain, replace decayed tooth tissue while still preserving healthy tissue. They are bonded directly to your teeth making them brighter and stronger. Onlays and inlays are the perfect choice if you’re considering replacing your old, unattractive amalgam fillings to make your teeth look more natural and give them the original function.
Today’s porcelain inlays, onlays and composite resins create restorations that not only look natural but also are stronger than materials of the past. Onlays are used for large restorations, repairing inside the cusp and extending over one or more sides of the tooth. Both of these restorations are invisible in the smile and allow us to save much more of the healthy tooth.
